What’s the hashtag you use the most?
#onlifebeauty probably. It all started with #onsetbeauty, where I’d find beautiful little moments and details while on set. Like left over flowers tucked into a corner, or architecture of buildings that we’d walk by. And then I wanted a hashtag where I could express the beauty of life in general. Feelings, moments, memories, earthly charm. Just BEAUTY! There is beauty everywhere.

What’s your favorite Instagram account to follow?
@drawbertson, @deliciouslystella, @reginayazdi, @natalie_miller_design, @veronicaolson, @monionioni, @ladyhue, @blairz, @realbrookewhite, the list goes on! I love artists, funny people, photographers, and ‘normal’ people. I love my friend’s accounts, especially, because they are REAL with smiles and life and love and children and ups and downs. Sometimes too much ‘curating” blocks all of that and it’s a shame.

What’s the most embarrassing picture you’ve posted and then taken off?
I tend to post a LOT of goofy pictures. And videos. And then I’ll delete them.

What’s your favorite part about Instagram?
Instagram has given me a platform to share my thoughts and views. It also gives creatives and people in general a voice where they can brand themselves and create opportunities to build off from. How amazing is that?! Hopefully I can also inspire a few people, even if it is just one, to see beauty in all things. Spreading goodness is my favorite part about it!

What’s the biggest turnoff?
On the flip side, Instagram is also not entirely sincere. We only post the good, right? I try to be as real as can be. But even I get sucked in, and it’s easy to compare my life to others. Instagram does not bring lasting fulfillment, but it is a wonderful tool that puts a lot of power in our hands.

What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever gotten and from whom?
My grandmother used to hound me about wearing sunscreen when I was little. Every few hours, she’d say “Alexandra! You need to put on sunscreen!” It’s become a very wonderful, effortless habit. Always put on sunscreen! It protects your skin and gives a nice glow.

What’s your signature beauty look?
Definitely a little cat-eye.

When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was always fascinated with beauty when I was little. My grandmother would teach me about different fabrics, colors, styles off of the runways, how to grow plants, create a beautiful house, see beauty. Because I was surrounded by beauty and fashion, I always knew that it would be a part of my future. I didn’t know that I’d become who I am today, but looking back it’s clear that where I am is not random. I knew that I would be a model, but I’d say to my family “architect” because I wanted them to “approve” of me, and I remember thinking that they’d think I was crazy for dreaming of such things. I remember a family member saying “well…you better have a plan B. That only happens to one in a million”. I guess I’m one in a million! Ha! Follow your heart.

What will you never find yourself posting?
I try to never post hurtful things.

What’s the weirdest comment you’ve received from a follower?
I’ve had some pretty weird emails through Instagram. It’s basically love notes, borderline obsessive. Some people become very attached. But you know, it comes with the territory. I put my life out there, I share my thoughts with the cyber world, and reactions are going to happen. Thankfully the weird comments seem to always be lovey dovey- never overtly sexual. Which is a relief.

What’s the picture that has gotten you the most likes?
I don’t know! There are a few that have quite a few likes. My self portraits #noiretportrait usually receive a lot.

What cosmetic item could you never live with out?
Sunscreen, Neutrogena’s “Ultra-Sheer Dry-Touch” for every day. Also Benefit’s “Boi-Ing Industrial-Strength Concealer”, Maybelline’s “Ultra Liner” waterproof eyeliner, and finally, I really love the Clarins “Baume Beauté Eclair” – it gives a nice finishing sheen that is light and dewy.
