What are specific foods you avoid or specific weekly workouts that you do to feel confident that you’re maintaining your measurements? 2. April 2019

The key to enjoying life and feeling secure in my body and mind has been finding a healthy lifestyle in general, one that doesn’t deprive me of life experiences or joy. I eat a whole-foods diet, meaning I try to avoid anything processed, sticking to fresh fruits and vegetables, sources of protein, water, etc. I try my best to stay away from foods that don’t make me feel good– sugars, especially processed ones (cane sugar, high fructose corn syrup, processed honey), carbs (especially white bread and wheat), any fats that aren’t good fats (butter, hydrogenated oils, etc.). I’ve found that almost any processed food has a healthy alternative, so I try to go for the better options (even if it means making them myself, using clean ingredients!). Weekly workouts include staying active as much as possible, walking daily, barre classes every other day if possible, occasional gym and jump rope. I really try to listen to my body when it comes to food and exercise. Do I need rest? Do I need cardio? Strength? Do I need more vegetables? Protein? Water? It has become very intuitive, which is great. As for specific measurements, over the years I have become very connected to my body, finally finding my groove and able to feel when I’m not maintaining. If I ever do feel that way, however, I’ll check the scale to get an idea of where I’m at and regulate from there. Regulate meaning I’ll indulge a little less in homemade treats and sugars (even fruits and raw honey — which isn’t easy because I have a major sweet tooth)!

THIS! My heart. Thank you so much for your kind words and love! It touches my heart more than you know. I admit, sharing so much on the interwebs can at times be pretty daunting (eek!). There is certainly a fear of being misunderstood…but more than anything, the fulfillment, inspiration and humbling feeling that comes from your responses and feeling connected trumps all. It is a joy and is what makes what I do worthwhile. I try to just listen to the heart!

Hi! Aw thank you so much for reaching out. We do love our apartment and feel really lucky! Unfortunately I don’t know of a realtor ; we found our place because our friends were living in one of the complex’s apartments (and we chased down the landlord and told him we wanted to move in as soon as a space opened up!). I’d say reaching out to friends (if you have some in the LA area) and seeing if you like their places, and if their places have any openings is a great way to get a feel for what’s out there.
